On Being In Love

The following passage is so beautifully and impeccably written tht I couldn’t resist to make it a post. Its all abt the first love Although it is written a century back, bt m sure some confused figures who r still wondering wat the hell m talking abt, ll find their answers here in this passage….

“Ah, what raptures they were!

The mere recollection thrills you. How delicious it was to tell her that you loved her, that you lived for her, that you would die for her! How you did rave, to be sure, what floods of extravagant nonsense you poured forth, and oh, how cruel it was of her to pretend not to believe you! In what awe you stood of her! How miserable you were when you had offended her! And yet, how pleasant to be bullied by her and to sue for pardon without having the slightest notion of what your fault was! How dark the world was when she snubbed you, as she often did, the little rogue, just to see you look wretched; how sunny when she smiled! How jealous you were of every one about her! How you hated every man she shook hands with, every woman she kissed--the maid that did her hair, the boy that cleaned her shoes, the dog she nursed--though you had to be respectful to the last-named! How you looked forward to seeing her, how stupid you were when you did see her, staring at her without saying a word! How impossible it was for you to go out at any time of the day or night without finding yourself eventually opposite her windows! You hadn't pluck enough to go in, but you hung about the corner and gazed at the outside. Oh, if the house had only caught fire--it was insured, so it wouldn't have mattered--and you could have rushed in and saved her at the risk of your life, and have been terribly burned and injured! Anything to serve her. Even in little things that was so sweet. How you would watch her, spaniel-like, to anticipate her slightest wish! How proud you were to do her bidding! How delightful it was to be ordered about by her! To devote your whole life to her and to never think of yourself seemed such a simple thing. You would go without a holiday to lay a humble offering at her shrine, and felt more than repaid if she only deigned to accept it. How precious to you was everything that she had hallowed by her touch--her little glove, the ribbon she had worn, the rose that had nestled in her hair and whose withered leaves still mark the poems you never care to look at now.

And oh, how beautiful she was, how wondrous beautiful! It was as some angel entering the room, and all else became plain and earthly. She was too sacred to be touched. It seemed almost presumption to gaze at her.

You would as soon have thought of kissing her as of singing comic songs in a cathedral. It was desecration enough to kneel and timidly raise the gracious little hand to your lips.

Ah, those foolish days, those foolish days when we were unselfish and pure-minded; those foolish days when our simple hearts were full of truth, and faith, and reverence! Ah, those foolish days of noble longings and of noble strivings! And oh, these wise, clever days when we know that money is the only prize worth striving for, when we believe in nothing else but meanness and lies, when we care for no living creature but ourselves!”

IITians, Art lovers??

IITians are generally accused of not a great appreciator of art, which is completely untrue. Although most of our last year guys who are appearing for CAT this year skip a passage on art and rather attempt a more boring passage on science.

But I think this is just a wrong perception of the people who don’t know many male IITians. We guys can talk 24X7 on the most beautiful art of all, creation of the mighty god which comes in all sizes and colors. We admire and adore it the most. We know its importance more than anybody on this planet. No one in this world at least can give a better review on it. We can stare it all day long without even blinking our eyes for once. If given a chance we will not give a single chance away to feel such a bighearted creation.

But for us such art is rare to experience. Thus now and then, we try to catch a glimpse of it on our computer screens as its the only thing keeping us alive in this tiny but highly competitive world of ours.

What else can we do, we are nerds and art lovers.

P.S. Sry for nt mentioning “the art”, feel free to imagine.

Why so serious???

I can make a hobby out of worrying. Of course, it is useful to take an interest in what goes on around me and it is always wise to analyze a situation and take the necessary steps to avoid being influenced by anything negative. However, if my mind is tense and burdened from worry, i may not be able to function clearly enough to arrive at a suitable solution to a problem. Maybe i should just do the best that i can and beyond that leave it in the hands of God. To have faith in the self, faith in God and faith in God's plan is a sure way to remain clear and free of burdens.

A night to remember!!!

u must be wondering wats with the "man wid reasons".. its just that i hv joined the godfather(the book) fan club recently and inspired by don corleone character, the man wid reasons.. bt sry this post is nt abt that book..

thus from continuous bragging from friends abt their blogs and senior askin to join the club of bloggin... i think i just found the right blog to write.. here m talkin abt an incident tht happened with me and my bunch of friends almost a year back...

like many other youngsters, we also wait for our share of weekend very eagerly.. we do all kinda stuff on weekends like midnight buffets, gud food in 3 stars in chennai and many other places i dont like to mention here.. on one such weekend, in one of our long fart session in our wing on hot saturday afternoon, we 5-6 guys decided to hv dinner at "Tandoor"(highly rated by food critics and really expensive) tht day.

so as usual first fight ws to get the auto.. 2-3 guys suggested to take the bus.. and guys like me who prefer luxury over money put auto fundaes.. bt to get the auto in chennai is like findin a coin in sea... really very difficult.. bt as usual luxury ws put aside and 6 guys were packed in auto of three and with auto guy continuously naggin in tamil (which no one in our group understands :P).

bt this incident started after our dinner actually.. as we had quite a meal, we got our complimentary paan and we headed back to our "room sweet room" without leavin any tip for waiters ( rakshit and ravi are huge supporters of nt givin any tip). he hired our auto and we were again 1 on 1 (3 on 3=6 :) )... out of nowhere our auto guy stopped on a side of road and took out a empty bottle :P.. and asked us for money to get some petrol.. as we were waitin for our auto guy to come, we were still on our places as nobody wanna disturb the packing.. we saw a lady in a tight skirt(huge turn on) brown in color and top off white walkin past us.. she ws wearin a high heels with laces all over her leg.. she ws walkin as if the footpath ws her ramp.. all of us were starin at her wid our mouth open and eyes popped out.. she ws just a meter ahead of our auto she turned around in such a sexy way tht i wuld never forget.. just then manish said aloud " abe yeh toh r**nd hai ".. at tht second all of us looked at manish once and turned back to our lady in total agreement.. i think she might hv heard and to giv us the confirmation, she bent wid her hot arse out to correct her high heels and at tht instant she gave us look wid a hot smile..

we were shocked.. never seen such a view in our lives.. some of us includin me ready to go and talk to her abt her rates.. as we are just a student we also considered concessions ;).. bt all in vain as nobody in our group is tht xperienced wid girls like this.. so we said "pack" :P.. and lets enjoi the real life pondy in front of our eyes..

just then our auto guy came and started the auto and we saw 1 pulsar guy negotiatin wid her which i dont think ended well and than a lancer came and last we saw she gettin into the back seat after a long conversation..

we still talk abt tht day and the lady tht made our night tht day and many more nights to come..

intern lol!!!

hmmm..

me blogging in this hot summer of 2008 just shows that how frustrated i am. i was nt like this couple of months back when most of my friends were still struggling to get the intern, i felt lucky enough to get it in starting two months of previous sem.

u must be wondering now wat happened, i tell u. my intern is in second corner of chennai. i hv to wake up at 7'o clock in the morning to reach there by 9.30 and report the director of the company.

the director of the company is another character. he expect us to come all six days a week and we r supposed to stay upto 5.30. 8 hrs a day, 6 days a week is not tht pain, the real pain is we just sit idle for 8 hrs. they r nt giving us any project and they made us write a apology letter the next day we bunked (which was forwarded to our hod and director).

the only thing tht keep me goin is really cool ac and my endless sleep. i hope juniors will not make such a big mistake. all and all its just the time waste.

The Counte of Monte Cristo...

i m sure most of you must hv read this wonderful classic, i had read some 7-8 years back. now i hv seen the movie too. ya its there on lan.

as all big stories, epics and fights written, occur and happen because of some beautiful lady, this was nt an exception either. here edmond(bechaara!!) was betrayed by his best friend mondego (another bechaara!! bt much richer than edmond) because his friend was jealous as edmond was sleeping with the lady(mercedes) he also wanna sleep with. and the lady was nt foolish either, for her satisfaction as soon as edmond ws sent to jail she slept with his best friend. bt as always hero comes back with more power, edmond did return after 16 years with treasure of sparta. bt his best friend ws crook by now. so predicting the situation, "the lady" played a new game and told tht the boy born after edmond left ws nt of his friend, bt of the edmond. again the lady is satisfied!!!!

moral of the story: the lady should always be satisfied.....

ANOTHER SUICIDE!!!!

let me tell u the latest news from iitm, there were 2 suicides in this premier institute in the last 2 weeks!!! its not a joke. and thts not it, there were numerous attempts and suicides in recent past not only in iitm but same happening in all iit's.

let me brief about these recent suicides. one ws found hanged in his room and the second one went unnoticed untill his body ws found 3 days later in his room.

one of my friend told me tht there ws a meeting regarding this issue where one of our prof suggested a solution by charging the guys who use the lan most (heh!!!!). some people think the pressure is too much to handle and the system is responsible for these cases.

bt i think its nt the system bt its just psychological. everyones brain is nt the same and with relative comparison prevailing in these institutes failure is bound to occur. and with these failures feeling guilty (as we come here with many hopes of many people on us) is just a normal thing. and thts where some people go wrong by confining themselves, stay lonely, not sharing their feelings with their friends and family which leads to frustration. and in frustration even the coolest person seems wierd which might lead to suicide.

hey then its just my thought. do share.
